How to save the picture from Instagram
You save a picture from Instagram either to your camera roll (Download button when the creator allows it) or to Saved collections inside the app (bookmark ribbon— always available). Most people searching this phrase want the picture on their phone, but collections are the reliable fallback when Download is off. Save a picture to camera roll (iPhone)
- Find the post with the picture you want.
- If it's a carousel, swipe to that slide.

- Open Photos app → Recents.

Manage collections

- Remove one post: open Saved → post → ribbon again to un-save.
Collections sync across phone and tablet on the same account. They don't export to Pinterest automatically— manual cross-post if needed.
When you need the picture outside Instagram
Bookmarks fail when:
- Creator deletes the post.
- Account goes private and you lose access.
- You need the image in Canva, iMessage, or print.
Then you need camera roll: Download, screenshot, or ask the creator. Third-party downloader websites are a last resort we don't recommend— login theft is common.
