Choose fileA video trimmer keeps a start-to-end region of a clip and writes a new MP4. Drop the file, set the seconds you want, and download a shorter H.264 clip for chat or a slide without sending the whole camera dump.
How to trim a video online
- Drop a video file onto the box above, or click Browse to choose it from disk.
- Set start and end in seconds with the number fields or the range sliders.
- Press Trim and wait until the progress bar reaches one hundred percent.
- Download the MP4 when it appears. Keep the original if you might recut.
Why use an online video trimmer?
A video trimmer discards the minutes before and after the moment you need. Phone videos start with a pocket shot. Screen recordings include the wrong window. A wedding take runs four minutes for a ten-second laugh. Desktop editors can cut that, but they also want a sequence and a render queue.
This page re-encodes the chosen range to H.264 and AAC so the download plays on phones. Stream-copy trims fail on non-keyframe starts. A real encode is slower and honest. CRF 23 ultrafast is the same family as other Videozify video jobs.
You still load the whole file into memory. Trimming does not mean the tab only reads two seconds. A 4K hour can crash a phone. Cut long jobs on a computer, or export a proxy first.
If the leftover clip is still huge, compress it. If you needed a GIF, use video to GIF on the short result, not on the uncut original.
If the leftover file is still too large, compress the video. For a chat image instead of a player, convert the clip to GIF after the cut.

A video trimmer is a cutting tool that writes a shorter MP4 between two times you set in seconds.
How accurate is the time range?
Times are seconds. The browser reports duration from metadata. Unusual containers can fail that read. Convert to MP4 first, then trim. Start stays before end, with a 0.1s minimum so empty jobs do not run.
Because this is a re-encode, the first frame is the time you asked for, not the previous keyframe. That is why the tool is slower than a copy trim and why the picture may differ slightly from the source.
There is no preview scrubber beyond the sliders. Watch the original once, note the seconds, then set them. A full in-tab player would double memory use on a file you already have in Photos or VLC.
Should you compress after trimming?
If the cut still misses an email cap, yes. Trimming removes duration. Compressing removes bits. Do them in that order. Muting after a trim is only useful when the leftover audio is the problem.
Live Photos and spatial video are not this dropzone. A regular MP4, MOV, WebM, or MKV is. If Finder shows a lock, you are on a DRM file and this tab will fail.
A silent screen capture still trims. You get a silent MP4. That is correct. Adding a voice-over is an editor job after the download.
GoPro and drone dumps are often 4K60 with a tiny highlight. Trim to the highlight here, then resize to 720p if the destination is chat. Doing neither leaves you emailing a 4GB card dump nobody will open.
Frequently asked questions
Does trimming a video reduce quality?
- Yes, a little, because this writes a new H.264 file at CRF 23. It is not a keyframe-accurate copy. For chat and slides the extra pass is usually fine. Keep the camera original if you might colour-grade later. The download is the clipped copy, not a restored master.
Can I cut multiple segments from one clip?
- Not in one pass. One range per run. Download, then trim the original again for another moment. If you need a supercut, trim each piece and join the MP4s in an editor. This tool will not build a timeline of five in-points.
Will this video trimmer work on iPhone or Android?
- Yes, in Safari or Chrome, for short clips. The whole file still loads. A 4K ten-minute MOV can kill a phone tab even if you only keep five seconds. Trim those on a computer..
Why not copy streams instead of re-encoding?
- Copy trims start on keyframes. Landing at 12.4 seconds often jumps to 12.0 or 13.0. A re-encode lands where you asked. That costs time and a generation. For this wasm build, the accurate cut is the one that matches the sliders.
How long does it take to trim a video?
- A one-minute clip usually finishes in under fifteen seconds once the engine has loaded. Longer sources scale roughly with duration because the whole file is decoded. Trim on a computer if the source is an hour of 4K.
Is it legal to trim a video I downloaded?
- Trimming a recording you made or have permission to clip is the intended case. Cutting a commercial film to post a scene can still violate copyright. Videozify does not store files and cannot check a licence or a platform rule.
