How to save images from Instagram
You save images from Instagram through the app's download option (when the creator allows it), the bookmark feature, or a screenshot. iPhone and Android show slightly different menus, but the rules are identical: no universal "save any image" switch exists. Videozify does not download from Instagram— it handles YouTube URLs and files you upload after you've already saved something locally.

Save an image to iPhone Photos (official path)
- Update Instagram from the App Store.
- Open the image post (not a Reel).
- Tap ⋯ top-right of the post.
- Tap Download if it appears.
- Open Photos → Recents. The image should be there within a few seconds.
Missing Download? The account disabled saving or it's licensed content. Food bloggers often turn downloads off to protect recipe photos. Retail brands sometimes allow it for product shots.
Save an image on Android
- Open the post in Instagram.
- Tap Share (paper plane icon).
- Look for Save image, Download, or Share to Gallery in the sheet.
- Confirm in Google Photos or your default gallery app.
On Samsung devices, images sometimes land in Gallery → Albums → Instagram. File managers show them under Pictures/Instagram/.
Bookmarks: save without leaving Instagram
Bookmarks are underrated when camera roll saving is blocked.
- Tap the bookmark ribbon.
- Profile → Saved → organize collections.
Collections sync across devices logged into the same account. Offline viewing is limited— Instagram caches some saved media, not a full export.
Screenshots: the fallback everyone uses
When Download is gone:
- iPhone: Side + Volume up.
- Android: Power + Volume down (varies by manufacturer).
Crop immediately. A full-screen capture includes likes count and comment preview— fine for personal reference, messy for reposting.
Image quality: Instagram serves compressed JPEGs around 1080 px on the long edge. A screenshot of a compressed image is not sharper than the download would have been.
Desktop: viewing vs saving
Instagram.com in Chrome or Safari lets you view images but rarely offers a direct download for someone else's post. Right-click save often grabs a low-res preview or blocked asset. The mobile app remains the reliable path for official downloads.
For your own content, use Settings → Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information to request a ZIP of everything you've posted— images included, usually within 48 hours.
Third-party "Instagram image savers"
Browser extensions and paste-link websites cycle through popularity and takedowns. Risks:
- Phishing login pages styled like Instagram.
- Ad overload on mobile— mis-taps install junk profiles.
- Terms violations— automated scraping breaks Meta's rules.
If an image matters professionally, message the creator. Many send the original file when asked politely.
When you saved a video clip of an image post
Some tutorials screen-record while zooming into an infographic. That MP4 might be 15–30 MB for a 10-second pan. Before sharing elsewhere, run it through a video compressor to shrink file size— upload the file you recorded; Videozify does not fetch Instagram links.
Troubleshooting
Image saved sideways — Instagram preserves EXIF orientation; older gallery apps may display wrong. Open in Photos and rotate once.
"Saved" but can't find file — Search Photos for "Instagram" or check Albums → Recents sorted by date.
Download grayed out on your own post — Switch to the professional dashboard view; personal vs business toolkits differ slightly.
Blurry after save — You screenshot a Story with network compression. Wait for the Story to fully load before capturing.
